Prepare a NAS access request

Gather the right details without changing file permissions.

  1. Identify the NAS

Note the model and the local device name. Keep public addresses and credentials private.

  2. Name the affected share

Record which shared folder is inaccessible and the exact error shown.

  3. Compare authorized access

Note whether another authorized user or computer can reach the same share.

  4. Check the backup record

Record the latest known backup status before any storage or permission changes.

  5. Request a permissions review

Do not grant everyone full access or expose the NAS directly to the internet to work around an access problem.
